Bishops David Abioye, Thomas Aremu Set to Retire from Living Faith Church

In a significant development for the Living Faith Church Worldwide, commonly known as Winners Chapel, Bishops David Olatunji Abioye and Thomas Aremu are set to retire, marking the end of decades of dedicated service.

Bishop Thomas Aremu’s valedictory service is scheduled for October 15, 2024, at the Living Faith Church (LFC) in Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State. Bishop David Abioye’s farewell ceremony will follow shortly after on October 18, 2024, in Lokogoma, Abuja.

Both bishops have been instrumental in the growth and establishment of the church, with Bishop Abioye serving as a close associate of the Church’s founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, since their first meeting in 1979. Abioye was appointed to pastor one of the five pioneer branches in 1987 and consecrated in 1993, becoming the youngest bishop at 32. Meanwhile, Bishop Aremu, a former accountant, was consecrated in 1999 and is the last remaining member of the seven bishops consecrated at that time.

The retirements come as part of the Church’s revised constitutional framework, which sets the retirement age for bishops at 58. Both Bishop Abioye, now 63, and Bishop Aremu, 67, have surpassed this age.

This marks a historic moment for the Living Faith Church, as it will be the first time senior pastors who have contributed immensely to the church’s mission will be publicly honored at their retirement.

As the Church embarks on a new chapter, these bishops’ contributions will be remembered as key to its continued growth and success.
