Bayelsa: INEC Presents Certificate of Return to PDP’s Douye Diri, Inauguration Moved To Another Avenue Over Security Concerns
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday morning declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Douye Diri winner of the November 16 2019 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.
The Commission subsequently presented him with a certificate of return at a brief ceremony in Abuja following Thursday’s Supreme Court’s judgement that upturned the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon. Diri would be sworn in today as the validly elected governor of the state.
The inauguration ceremony, however, would no longer be held at the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenogoa, the state capital over security concerns.
