Bayelsa Governor, Diri Reacts to Tribunal Judgement that Nullified His Election
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reacted to the judgement of the Bayelsa state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which nullified his victory as the duly elected Governor of the state.
Speaking for the first time after the judgement on Monday, Diri called on the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state not to panic that he had instructed his lawyers to challenge the judgement.
“We trust in the judiciary and we are appealing the judgement. With God on our side, we will get justice.
“This is a court of first instance and I have instructed our lawyers to file an appeal. We have a right of appeal even up to the Supreme Court” he said.
The tribunal has ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wrongly excluded the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) governorship candidate in the November 16, 2019.
