Banker Killed by Kidnappers in Anambra Despite Ransom Payment
A female banker, identified as Ifeoma, has reportedly been killed by suspected kidnappers in Anambra State after her family paid a ransom for her release.
Ifeoma was abducted in Onitsha, and while details of the incident remain unclear, it was confirmed that her captors demanded and received a ransom. Despite this, they took her life and abandoned her body near Ideani junction along the Nnobi/Alor road.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishi, who disclosed the tragic event in a social media post on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, condemned the incessant loss of lives in the state. He expressed frustration over the lack of effective measures to curb these crimes, warning, “Lives are being taken daily, and it’s sad nothing is being done to end all this killing. WHO IS NEXT? If we keep folding our hands and do nothing, it may get to you.”
