Bandits Gun Down Worshippers in Kaduna Mosque Invasion
At least two worshippers lost their lives during Friday prayers at the Juma’at Mosque in Anguwar Makera, situated in the Kwasakwasa Community within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The assailants, believed to be bandits, targeted the congregation around 2 pm on Friday, as confirmed by local sources.
Hudu Kwasakwasa, a community leader, shared details of the horrifying event, stating that the bandits opened fire on the worshippers during the second raka’at of the salat. “The two worshippers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday). The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery,” he lamented.
This disturbing incident follows a recent abduction by the same group, where approximately nine individuals were taken from Angwar Kanawa, another community under the Kwasakwasa area. Kwasakwasa urgently appealed for assistance from relevant authorities, expressing concern over the unbridled attacks by these bandits on their communities.
Remarkably, this assault on the mosque occurred less than 24 hours after bandits abducted over 287 students in the neighboring Chikun Local Government Area of the state. As of now, the State Government and the Police Command have not issued any official statements regarding the mosque incident. The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, remains unreachable, leaving the community anxiously awaiting clarification and action.
