Bandits Abduct Catholic Priest in Kaduna
Bandits have abducted Rev. Father Gabriel Ukeh, the presiding priest of St. Thomas Parish, Zaman Dabo Community, in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the parish rectory.
The Vicar General (Pastoral), Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kazah, confirmed the abduction in a press statement released on Sunday. He appealed for fervent prayers for the priest’s swift and safe return and condemned the frequent kidnappings for ransom affecting innocent and defenseless citizens.
“We urge the government to enhance its security intelligence, especially as we approach the celebration of Sallah,” Fr. Kazah stated. He also advised against any form of vigilante justice, emphasizing the importance of using legitimate means to secure the priest’s release.
“Through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Priests and Religious, may Jesus the crucified hearken to our prayers and hasten the unconditional release of His Priest and every other abducted person,” he added.
Kaduna State Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, acknowledged the incident and promised to provide more information soon.
