Atiku Tenders Additional 26,175 Documents To Tribunal
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar on Friday tendered additional 26,175 documents to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the court of Appeal in Abuja.
The documents tendered through his lead counsel, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN) and admitted in evidence as exhibits includes result sheets of election obtained from wards, polling units and local governments areas in Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Borno, Jigawa, Gombe and Bauchi states.
Atiku earlier on Thursday opened his case by tendering 5,196 documents to establish fraud and malpractices in the February 23 election that produced Buhari. The breakdown of the documents tendered yesterday indicated that 3378 came from Katsina, 2106 from Kebbi, 3472 from Borno, 3162 from Jigawa, 1912 from Gombe, 3539 from Bauchi, 3335, from Kaduna and 5271 from Kano.
Atiku’s lawyer, while tendering the documents told the tribunal that the remaining ones from Kano State would be brought on Monday, the adjourned date. Counsel to INEC, Yunus Ustaz Usman (SAN), that of Buhari, Mike Igbokwe (SAN) and that of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Charles Edosomwan (SAN), all objected to the admissibility of the documents.
They, however, reserved reasons for their objections in line with the agreement contained in the pre-hearing report.
The tribunal has adjourned further hearing in the petition till Monday, July 8, 2019.
