A Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has described supporters of former presidential candidate Peter Obi as highly active and aggressive on social media, saying they stand out in online political engagement.

Speaking during an interview on News Central Television on Monday, Bwala said social media has reshaped how citizens interact with public officials, making it easier for political criticism to spread directly and rapidly.

He argued that online political activism has become part of modern campaigning and governance discourse, adding that different political groups now rely heavily on digital platforms to push narratives and respond to public debate.

According to him, Obi’s supporters are particularly visible in online spaces.

“The tigers of social media are Peter Obi’s followers. Everybody knows. Some of them live abroad where data is accessible. Some are in Nigeria. Many of them are in tech. They have done a lot of manipulation,” he said.

He added that such behaviour is not exclusive to one political camp, but insisted that the most noticeable group, in his view, are supporters of Obi.

Responding to a question on whether he funds individuals to defend the government online, Bwala denied the claim.

“I don’t pay anybody for anything,” he said, adding that he would not engage in paid online campaigns even when facing criticism.
