Former Chief of Army Staff, Turkur Buratai, says Nigeria’s security agencies have the capability to track armed groups if they can locate civilians and social media users.
He spoke on Monday during an interview on TVC, where he was asked about efforts to rescue schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.
The attack involved the abduction of pupils and teachers, with one staff member killed during the incident.
Buratai said the issue is not necessarily a lack of operational reach by security agencies, but insisted that existing systems already show capacity to locate individuals across different environments.
He also called for stronger manpower and continuous training within the security sector.
“We need more troops to be recruited, more operatives, more policemen need to be recruited, trained and retrained,” he said.
