Security sources said the attackers blocked the highway around 4:30 p.m. before moving against personnel stationed at the immigration post. Officers were reportedly overpowered during the assault, and an AK-47 rifle belonging to an immigration officer was taken.
The attackers also targeted a nearby police outpost in Zugurma village during the same operation.
Police authorities confirmed that officers on duty at the outpost managed to withdraw safely and no injuries were recorded.
According to security officials, no abductions occurred during the incident.
The situation was later brought under control, and joint security teams have begun efforts to trace those involved. Authorities also say patrols in the area have been increased following the attack.
Niger State remains under heightened security monitoring as operations continue in the affected corridor.
