Authorities say the incident occurred at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on May 18, when the suspect is believed to have passed through screening processes at Terminal C and boarded United Airlines Flight 469, which was scheduled to travel to Los Angeles.
According to information released through a Houston court filing and reported by local broadcaster KHOU 11, airport personnel were momentarily distracted during boarding, allowing the individual to proceed onto the aircraft without proper clearance. Investigators later stated that the boarding pass presented was fraudulent, missing key identifying features, including a QR code.
Shortly after the aircraft began taxiing, cabin crew were alerted to the presence of an individual inside a restroom. The flight was then instructed to return to the gate while security procedures were reactivated.
Law enforcement response involved multiple agencies, including the Houston Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, airport security teams, and the Transportation Security Administration. A full inspection of the aircraft was carried out, including checks by explosive detection units.
Court documents indicate that prosecutors argued the incident resulted in a delay of approximately three hours and required the deployment of several security resources. A judge subsequently approved a $25,000 bond and imposed conditions including passport seizure, electronic monitoring, a restriction barring the suspect from entering any airport, and a prohibition on firearm possession.
The case remains under legal review as authorities continue to examine how the security breach occurred.
