The Nigerian Army has approved a major reshuffle of its senior officers, with new appointments across operational commands, training institutions and strategic departments.

The changes, announced in a statement on Saturday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, were approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

According to the Army, the redeployment is aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, improving leadership and enhancing the service's capacity to address evolving security challenges across the country.

Among the key appointments, Major General WM Dangana has been named General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, replacing Major General EF Oyinlola.

Major General EI Okoro takes over as GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, succeeding Major General EE Emeka.

Major General JR Lar has been appointed Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola becomes Acting Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri retains his position as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff.

The Army also announced the appointment of Brigadier General IB Buhari as Commander, Headquarters 63 Brigade, and Brigadier General K Rabiu as Commander, Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.

In the area of emerging security operations, Major General SA Emmanuel has been appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command. The Army said the appointment reflects its increasing focus on technology-driven warfare and modern security operations.

Major General O Adegbe has been posted to Defence Headquarters as Director of Intelligence and Security.

The reshuffle also affects military training and educational institutions. Major General KE Chigbu has been appointed Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College, while Major General SD Makolo becomes Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School.

Major General SO Adejimi has been named Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, while Major General FS Etim takes over as Chief of Training at Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). Brigadier General U Ahmad has also been appointed Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.

In other appointments, Major General KO Ukandu will serve as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Post Housing Development Limited, while Major General AI Allison has been named Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.

The Chief of Army Staff urged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence placed in them through professionalism, innovation and effective leadership.

He reaffirmed the Army's commitment to building a professional, combat-ready force capable of responding to Nigeria's current and future security challenges.
