The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, over the death of her 97-year-old grandmother in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to the command, the incident occurred on June 12, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., following a disagreement between the suspect and her paternal grandmother at their residence.
During the altercation, the suspect was alleged to have struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair.
The matter was later reported to the police by the suspect’s father at the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station. Officers who arrived at the scene found the victim unconscious and lying in a pool of blood.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where a doctor later confirmed her death.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the suspect was arrested during the course of investigation and has reportedly confessed to the act.
She is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. The police said further updates will be communicated as the case progresses.
