Last minute order of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, on Monday, saved the suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole from political coup staged by a faction of the party.
The appellate court, in a ruling by a three-man panel of Justices led by Justice Yahaya Dattijo, also issued an interlocutory injunction restraining the Respondents from taking steps to give effect to the high court ruling, pending the determination of appeals Oshiomhole filed before it.
The order of the appellate court followed an ex-parte application Oshiomhole filed through his team of lawyers led by Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN
The court fixed Thursday to hear the two appeals marked CA/A/187/2020 and CA/A/188/2020.
A faction of the party backing the acting National Secretary, Victor Giadom has plotted to takeover the leadership of the party after Abuja High Court ordered the suspension of Oshiomhole.
Following the order of the Appeal Court, Oshiomhole will today chair the party’s National Working Committee meeting according to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.
“All members of the NWC are expected to attend as important matters concerning the party will be considered and deliberated at the meeting.
“Recall that a Court of Appeal on Monday stayed the execution order of a High Court restraining the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from further acting in that capacity,” the statement read.
However, the Governor of Kebbi state and Chairman of APC Governors forum, Atiku Bagudu has announced the postponement of the meeting.
