APC Youth Group Takes Kano Governor to UN Over Alleged Harassment of Judges

The All Progressives Congress Youth Business Community in Kano (APC-YBCK) has taken its grievances to the international stage by submitting a petition to the United Nations, accusing the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, of alleged harassment of justices.

In a demonstration at the UN House in Abuja on Friday, the group urged the global community to sanction the Kano State government and its supporters, citing threats to the judiciary.

Umar Ladiyo, the leader of APC-YBCK, submitted a petition against Governor Yusuf, emphasizing the perceived dangers faced by the business community since the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) assumed office in Kano State.

Addressing journalists during the protest, Ladiyo expressed dissatisfaction with the NNPP-led Kano State government’s demolition of properties worth billions of naira without following due process.

He stated, “We are also here to appeal to the UN not to allow the NNPP to drag it into the mud. We know that Abba Yusuf and NNPP sympathizers have been pressuring the international community to intervene in the democratic process in Nigeria.”

Ladiyo emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, urging the UN to let the Nigerian judiciary function independently. He cautioned against being swayed by the NNPP government’s activities, asserting Nigeria’s sovereignty with its laws, regulations, Constitution, and electoral laws.

“We are appealing to the UN not to be carried away. They should not listen to unwarranted remarks from other political parties. We are asking the United Nations to keep an eye on this process because other political parties are preaching violence,” Ladiyo added.

The APC-YBCK group alleged that the NNPP-led government in Kano was allegedly recruiting thugs to instigate chaos if their demands were not met. The submission of the petition marks a significant move by the youth business community to draw international attention to their concerns regarding the perceived threats to the judiciary in Kano State.
