APC Suspends Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Over Alleged Misconduct

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South in the National Assembly, has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to alleged insubordination and anti-party activities. The suspension was announced in a letter signed by 16 members of the party executive from his Igbotako ward II, Okitipupa local government area.

According to the letter, Senator Ibrahim’s actions, including suing the party and advocating for his supporters to join the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), were deemed contrary to the party’s constitution. The letter highlighted his challenge of the APC primary process, labeling it a “mega fraud,” and his subsequent court action demanding its cancellation and rerun.

Moreover, Senator Ibrahim’s alleged encouragement of his supporters to defect to the NNPP further exacerbated the situation. The party executive members accused him of openly declaring his intent to disrupt APC activities before leaving the party.

Senator Ibrahim’s suspension comes in the aftermath of the APC primary election where he contested against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the party’s gubernatorial ticket. Despite his dissatisfaction with the primary process, Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election.

Efforts to reach Senator Ibrahim for comment were unsuccessful. Banji Okuomo, the senator’s spokesperson, stated that they were unaware of the suspension letter and had not received any communication regarding it.
