APC Suspends Kogi Gubernatorial Campaign Following Tragic Incident
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made the difficult decision to suspend its campaign for the upcoming November 11th Kogi Governorship Election. This announcement comes in the wake of a tragic incident involving one of its party members.
Ms. Khadijat Yahaya, a dedicated member of the APC, tragically lost her life after a vicious attack by suspected thugs. This act of violence has sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape of Kogi State.
Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesperson for the State Campaign Council, conveyed this somber decision in a statement issued on Tuesday. The suspension of the campaign serves as a poignant mark of respect for Ms. Khadijat Yahaya, who paid the ultimate price for her political affiliation.
The unfortunate incident occurred during a clash between supporters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and those of the APC in Kotonkarfe on September 29th. The tension between rival political factions escalated to a tragic and unforeseen outcome.
Despite the suspension of the campaign, the state APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Usman Ododo, displayed empathy and compassion by visiting the bereaved family of the deceased in Kotonkarfe on Tuesday. In this solemn moment, he expressed deep shock and offered heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. Alhaji Usman Ododo also extended prayers for the peaceful repose of Ms. Khadijat Yahaya’s soul.
As Kogi State grapples with this sorrowful incident, the suspension of the APC’s campaign underscores the gravity of the situation and the party’s commitment to honoring the memory of their fallen comrade. The political landscape remains tense, with the upcoming election overshadowed by this tragic loss.
