“APC Is a Gang of Zombies, Not a Political Party” – PDP Chieftain Segun Sowunmi
In a fiery critique, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Sowunmi has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “gang of zombies” rather than a legitimate political party. Sowunmi made the statement on Monday while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, where he questioned the APC’s adherence to democratic principles.
According to Sowunmi, the APC has failed to conduct party congresses, a fundamental process in maintaining internal democracy. He pointed to the PDP’s recent nationwide congresses as an example of democratic engagement, contrasting this with what he called the APC’s lack of similar efforts.
“The PDP just held congresses across the country. I can’t remember when the APC last did anything like that,” Sowunmi stated. He went on to accuse the APC of operating more like a “special purpose vehicle for contesting elections” rather than a structured political party, adding that the internal processes of the ruling party are chaotic and devoid of true democratic spirit.
