APC Governors’ Meeting: Key Details Revealed
The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has outlined plans for transparent and coordinated management of party congresses and the forthcoming national convention.
PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, presented the forum’s communiqué after a meeting with APC leadership in Abuja on Wednesday. He emphasized that transparency, accountability, and consistency must guide all party processes to strengthen trust and credibility.
“These standards must apply uniformly across all states, including where the party currently has no governors,” Uzodinma said, reaffirming the forum’s commitment to party unity and internal harmony.
The governor stressed responsible leadership, clear communication, and collective discipline as essential to boosting public confidence in the party’s democratic processes. He also reiterated the PGF’s dedication to deepening internal democracy, reinforcing party structures, and promoting reforms that enhance transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness nationwide.
Uzodinma reported that the governors received a briefing on the APC’s national e-registration and digital membership update, which has significantly increased youth participation and integrated the National Identity Number into the system. He noted that the initiative will support data-driven planning, improve demographic insights, and strengthen grassroots engagement.
The forum endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for upcoming congresses and the national convention. Uzodinma commended APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda for guiding the process.
He also confirmed strategic state visits to strengthen grassroots structures, starting with Taraba State on January 31, and formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau into the forum.
Concluding, Uzodinma reaffirmed the governors’ commitment to collaborate with APC leadership in advancing national development, democratic consolidation, and people-centered governance, while expressing appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
