APC Accuses Opposition of Orchestrating Mass Protests to Undermine Tinubu’s Administration

Protesters took to the streets of Minna, Niger State, on Monday, February 5, 2024, blocking major roads in a demonstration against the escalating cost of living. In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pointed fingers at opposition parties, accusing them of orchestrating nationwide protests to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s government.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated on Tuesday that the simultaneous protests in Minna and Kano were part of a calculated effort to incite unrest and undermine the government. Morka labeled this strategy as a “clear and present threat to public peace and national security.”

“While we recognize the right of citizens to engage in peaceful protest, we urge our good people to be vigilant and not lend themselves to the treacherous attempt by the opposition to promote social strife by its incendiary rhetoric and manipulative plots,” Morka emphasized in a statement.

Defending the Tinubu-led administration, Morka asserted its commitment to implementing critical reforms aimed at economic recovery and sustainable prosperity for all Nigerians. He urged citizens to support the government, emphasizing that the policy reforms would lead to enduring beneficial transformations in the country’s living conditions.

Despite acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, Morka cautioned against falling prey to what he described as the opposition’s “guile and unpatriotic attempt” to destabilize the nation for their political gains.
