Another Miyetti Allah Vigilante Member Assassinated in Kwara

A member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State chapter, has been assassinated by unknown gunmen in what appears to be a growing trend of targeted attacks. The victim, identified as Dabe, was reportedly killed on Tuesday night in Kanbi town along the Ilorin-Jebba highway, Moro Local Government Area of the state.

Sources within the association confirmed that Dabe was a vigilante member actively involved in efforts to combat criminal activity within the community. His death marks the second killing of a Miyetti Allah member in just two weeks. Last Saturday, the chairman of the association, Idris Abubakar, was also gunned down in front of his home in Oke-Ose, Oke-Oyi town, Ilorin East Local Government Area, around 10 pm.

With Dabe’s killing, the total number of association members allegedly murdered for supporting joint security and vigilante efforts has risen to five. The attacks have sparked growing concern among Fulani cattle breeders in the state, who now fear they are being deliberately targeted by criminal elements.

The secretary of the association, Azeez Mohammed, had earlier expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity following the murder of Idris Abubakar, stating that members are becoming easy targets despite their collaboration with authorities to rid the group of criminal elements.

Efforts to obtain a statement from the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, regarding the latest incident have so far been unsuccessful. However, the police command has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the killing of the association’s chairman.
