Galambi, who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, stated that his decision to leave the NNPP was based on a directive from his constituency. He also cited the ongoing leadership crisis within the NNPP as a key reason for his defection.

His move adds to the growing number of opposition lawmakers crossing over to the APC. On February 12, Garba Koko, a lawmaker from Kebbi State, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC. Later in the month, on October 30, Sulaiman Abubakar, who represents Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara, also switched allegiance from the PDP to the ruling party.

The wave of defections continued on December 5, when four members of the Labour Party (LP) and one PDP lawmaker in the House of Representatives joined the APC, further consolidating the party’s dominance in the legislative chamber.
