Anambra: Security Forces Neutralize Armed Gang in Ufuma, Recover Weapons, Explosives
On January 14, 2025, at approximately 12:30 PM, a joint security team comprising the Police, Military, and other security agencies conducted a successful offensive operation against a suspected armed secessionist group in Umugem Road, Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area.
During the operation, five members of the group were neutralized, while others fled with varying degrees of bullet wounds. The security team also dismantled the gang’s camp, recovering four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, and a 75-volt battery among other incriminating items.
The success of this operation highlights the effective collaboration and coordination among the various security agencies. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing gang members are ongoing as the area remains under active surveillance.
Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam has called on residents in the area to support security forces by providing relevant information and maintaining vigilance to reclaim the space from criminal elements.
