Anambra Police Kill Illegal Sit-at-Home Enforcer, Seize Weapons, Incriminating Evidence

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully demobilized one individual involved in enforcing an illegal sit-at-home order. Acting on intelligence gathered, police operatives conducted an operation near the Oba flyover in Idemili South on May 29, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m.

The operation targeted a group of four armed individuals on motorcycles, resulting in the immobilization of one suspect, while the remaining three fled the scene with gunshot wounds. Recovered from the apprehended suspect were a locally manufactured Barreta pistol, four expanded cartridges, two mobile phones, and other materials indicative of unpatriotic sentiments and disloyalty to the Nigerian government.

Initial investigations suggest that the armed individuals were preparing to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order scheduled for May 30, 2024. Efforts are currently underway to track down the three suspects who evaded capture.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police (CP) has urged the operatives to maintain the momentum in their efforts to combat criminal activities and prevent them from causing harm in the state.
