Anambra Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Recover Victim’s Vehicle After N15m Ransom
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, a 34-year-old from Ebonyi State residing in Oduke-Obosi, in connection with a case of armed robbery and kidnapping.
The suspect was apprehended after the police recovered the victim’s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450, which had been stolen by the kidnappers. The victim, who was abducted in a neighboring state, was later released after a ransom of N15 million was paid. The abductors took the victim’s vehicle, but it was tracked and recovered at MCC Junction in Onitsha.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and stated that the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered further action to apprehend other members of the gang, particularly their leader known as Ebuka. The police command has also vowed to continue strengthening its operational strategies to ensure safety across the state.
