Anambra Police Foil Kidnap Attempt in Neni, Rescue Three Victims Including Couple

In a decisive show of force and coordination, police operatives attached to the Neni Divisional Headquarters have successfully foiled a kidnap attempt in Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2025, near Okacha Junction.

Acting on a distress call, the operatives swiftly moved to the scene and were able to rescue three victims, including a couple. One of the victim’s vehicles was also recovered during the operation. The prompt response prevented what could have been a tragic outcome and underscored the readiness of the police to counter violent crimes in the area.

In the aftermath, a Joint Security Force comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups has joined the police in an intensified operation to track down the fleeing suspects. Efforts are underway to recover a black Lexus 350 SUV, with registration number ABJ 557 LD, reportedly snatched from one of the victims and used by the assailants to flee the scene.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by the responding officers. He called on residents to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and to continue cooperating with security agencies to ensure the continued safety of lives and property across the state.
