Anambra Police Arrest Two Over Daring Attack on Security Personnel, Burning of Army Vehicle in Awka North
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the April 13 attack on police and military operatives in Enugwu-Agu village, Oba Ofemili, Awka North Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Uche Egwu (35) and Jindo Onyeka (32), were apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu following a meticulous investigation. Both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement and provided valuable information about others connected to the incident.
The attack, which occurred at about 9:45 a.m., saw armed assailants launch an unprovoked assault on security personnel and local stakeholders, resulting in the burning of an Army operational vehicle. Fortunately, no lives were lost during the incident.
Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu praised the security operatives for their professionalism and bravery in managing the volatile situation. He condemned the attack as a calculated attempt to test the resolve of Nigeria’s security agencies and described it as an assault on the very soul of the nation. CP Orutugu also directed investigators to widen their search in order to apprehend all individuals involved. He emphasized the importance of unity and public cooperation in protecting those who defend the country.
