According to a statement issued on Sunday, August 24, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, working with local vigilante groups, apprehended the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Chidi Nwoye, in the early hours of August 22. He was intercepted along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle.
Items recovered from the suspect included a Hyundai Tucson with registration number PH 725 AAA, a tricycle with registration number NSH 051 UD, eight assorted mobile phones, a battle axe, several master keys, ATM cards, a vehicle tracking device, an ignition device, and personal belongings contained in a sling bag.
