Anambra PDP Governorship Candidate Ezenwafor Shot in Abuja
Chief Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election, was shot on Friday night in Abuja in what is being described as an assassination attempt. The incident occurred around the Wuse 2 area as he was returning home from an appointment.
Ezenwafor is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Abuja and is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove bullets lodged in his body. Speaking to journalists in the early hours of Saturday, the visibly injured politician described the attack as a near-death experience.
“I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” he said weakly from his hospital bed.
Two other individuals with him at the time of the attack were also shot, though details about their conditions remain unclear.
The shooting comes just months ahead of the Anambra governorship election, scheduled for November 2025. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently conducting voter registration ahead of the poll.
