Anambra: Man Sets Wife on Fire Over Alleged Infidelity
A tragic incident unfolded in Abagana, Anambra State, on Wednesday morning as a middle-aged man set his wife on fire after dousing her with fuel over allegations of infidelity.
The victim, Chioma Nwana, a mother of six, had reportedly relocated from Jos, Plateau State, to her village with her children last year. A viral video circulating online captured the harrowing moment when she struggled for survival before being engulfed in flames.
Eyewitness accounts and social media reactions expressed shock and outrage over the act. A comment attached to the video read: “Her name is Chioma Nwana. They left Jos for the village last year. See how her husband poured fuel on her this morning and set her on fire. A mother of six boys and an only child, called ‘wife.’ God punish the devil.”
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the suspect had been arrested, and an investigation was underway.
“We are aware of the matter, but it is sad to announce that the woman passed away this morning while receiving medical attention. Her husband has also been arrested, and an investigation has commenced,” Ikenga said.
