Anambra indigene elected ward official in Gombe APC congress

An indigene of Anambra State, Edwin Chukwujekwu, has been elected Assistant Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bolari East Ward, Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Chukwujekwu emerged alongside other ward executive members through a consensus arrangement during the party’s ward congress held on Friday.

Speaking after the exercise, he described his election as a reflection of the party’s internal democracy and commitment to national cohesion. He said the outcome demonstrated that the APC accommodates members regardless of their state of origin.

Chukwujekwu noted that his emergence should encourage non-indigenes residing in Gombe State to take active roles in party politics. According to him, his four years in the state and subsequent election into the ward executive structure show that participation is open to all.

He also commended Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, for what he described as inclusive governance, citing the appointment of an Igbo man as Special Assistant on Inter-Community Affairs.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the list of executives from the 10 wards in Gombe LGA was presented to the Chairman of the Ward and Local Government Congress Committee for the state, Dr. Danjuma Dabo.

Announcing the officials at the Gombe Local Government Secretariat, Dabo said consensus remains a provision within the APC constitution and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congress. He urged party members to sustain the unity displayed during the exercise, describing it as vital to the party’s preparations ahead of the 2027 elections.
