Anambra: “I Disciplined Him After He Stole from Me” – Nurse Arrested for Burning 13-Year-Old Nephew with Hot Iron Defends Herself
A 38-year-old nurse, Amarachukwu Happiness Nzekwe, has been arrested in Anambra State for allegedly using a heated laundry iron to inflict severe injuries on her 13-year-old nephew. The incident, which has sparked outrage on social media, came to the attention of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo.
Nzekwe, a resident of Ezinifite in Aguata Local Government Area, reportedly accused the boy of stealing from her. Following the alleged assault, she is said to have locked him up at home without providing any medical attention.
“I disciplined him after he stole from me,” Nzekwe reportedly confessed.
The Commissioner, visibly angered by the situation, confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation. She issued a stern warning to anyone considering similar acts, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated in the state.
Obinabo assured the public that justice will be served in this case. “It’s important to note that the suspect, who currently has no children of her own, was entrusted with the care of her young nephew,” she added.
