Anambra 2025: Sir Paul Chukwuma Denies Allegations of Money Laundering
Sir Paul Chukwuma, a prominent governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the upcoming November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State, has dismissed recent allegations of money laundering reported against him. Chukwuma, while addressing journalists at his Umueri residence in Anambra East Local Government Area, described the allegations as baseless and a calculated attempt to derail his political ambitions.
The allegations, published by Sahara Reporters, claim that a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the temporary forfeiture of $378,000 and a Mercedes Benz GLS 600 Maybach to the Nigerian government. The report states that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) linked these assets to Chukwuma, citing them as proceeds of unlawful activities. The court ruling was reportedly delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite after the ICPC’s counsel presented a motion ex-parte.
In his response, Chukwuma urged the public to disregard the allegations, labeling them a distraction engineered by unpatriotic individuals. He expressed unwavering confidence in his candidacy and his ability to win both the APC primary and the general election. Chukwuma emphasized his 20-year track record of professional integrity and criticized the timing of the accusations, suggesting they were politically motivated.
“My image cannot be tarnished. We know the people behind this, and I’m committed to fixing the face of Anambra,” he stated. He reiterated his resolve to contest the governorship election, promising to address issues of insecurity and hardship if elected. Chukwuma further expressed doubts about the ICPC’s involvement in the allegations, warning that such actions, if true, could undermine public trust in government institutions.
Chukwuma concluded by expressing confidence in his chances against the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), should he secure the APC ticket.
