Akure Socialite Found Dead in Brothel After Alleged Romance
The late Sunday Bayo, a well-known Akure-based socialite affectionately called ‘Saybayo,’ was discovered dead in a brothel, according to recent revelations by the Ondo State Police.
Mr. Bayo, aged 43, had made headlines weeks before Christmas last year when he was declared missing by his family and friends. His lifeless body was eventually found in a grisly state inside his black-tinted vehicle within the upscale Ijapo Estate, a private residential area in Akure, favored by the affluent.
Initial speculations pointed towards political assassination, fueled by a circulating video showing Bayo’s remains in a pool of blood. However, the Ondo police spokeswoman, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed on Friday that Bayo’s demise was the result of a romantic encounter gone awry.
According to Mrs. Odunlami-Omisanya, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team apprehended Atinuke Adeniyi, a 29-year-old woman who confessed to having a romantic involvement with the deceased. Adeniyi claimed that on the 9th of December, a day before Bayo’s body was discovered, they had an intimate encounter at a brothel in Ijapo. She alleged that Bayo started convulsing, and out of fear, she left him in the room.
The police spokeswoman disclosed that the SWAT team, through intelligence-led policing, tracked down Adeniyi, who then led them to the implicated brothel. The owner of the establishment, Adeojo Ilesanmi, aged 50, was arrested and reportedly confessed to transporting Bayo’s body to the location where it was discovered.
Investigations into the murder case are ongoing, with the police emphasizing that charges will be filed against the suspects once their findings are complete. The shocking circumstances surrounding the socialite’s demise have sent ripples through the community, leaving many in disbelief.
