Akeredolu displays courage, scuttles impeachment of Ondo deputy governor
The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, has rejected a letter requesting that he set up a probe panel.
The letter which was sent from the state’s House of Assembly is part of the impeachment process and a statutory requirement of law.
Speaker of the Ondo Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun, had on Thursday written to the Chief Judge to set up a seven-man panel to investigate deputy governor Agboola Ajayi with the aim to impeach him from office, over allegations of gross misconduct.
The Chief Judge rejected the request and said that the matter was already in a court of equal jurisdiction and as such she could not entertain the matter.
She also noted that the House of Assembly did not follow due process.
