Two policemen were killed and another injured when unknown gunmen attacked a checkpoint at Opobo Junction along Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill. The assault triggered panic among street traders, motorists, and shop owners, who fled the scene for safety.
This attack comes just a month after unidentified assailants targeted a military checkpoint at Obikabia Junction, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers and the destruction of their patrol vehicles.
In the aftermath of the latest incident, multiple police patrol teams arrived at the scene, but the area remained largely deserted. As of this report, Abia Police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka had not responded to requests for comment.
