Again, Gunmen Attack Ogbaru LGA Headquarters in Anambra
On Friday, gunmen launched an attack on the Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) secretariat, causing significant damage to buildings and property. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants arrived in large numbers and opened fire, resulting in the destruction of several structures within the council area’s headquarters.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. According to State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the attack occurred in the early hours of August 30, 2024. He confirmed that while some LGA properties and buildings were damaged, no lives were lost. Security forces responded to the attack, and a joint security operation is currently underway in the region.
This incident marks another attack on the Ogbaru LGA headquarters, which has previously faced similar violence. Past assaults have led to the burning of buildings and vehicles on the premises. While the identity of the attackers remains unclear, suspicions often point towards secessionist groups.
