AFCON 2025: Akor Adams leaves Super Eagles camp after Mozambique win
Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has departed Nigeria’s camp following the team’s 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The development was confirmed via an update on the Super Eagles’ official X account, which stated that Adams was granted permission to attend to a family matter.
According to the statement, the striker’s mother was hospitalised on Monday, prompting the team to allow him leave from camp to be with her.
Despite receiving the news before kickoff against Mozambique, Adams featured in the match and scored Nigeria’s fourth goal to complete the rout.
There is currently no confirmation on whether the Sevilla striker will return in time for the Super Eagles’ quarter-final fixture scheduled for Saturday, where Nigeria will face either DR Congo or Algeria.
