‘Admin Has Left the Group’: Shehu Sani Reacts to Atiku’s PDP Exit
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sparked reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, with former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani weighing in with a characteristically wry remark. Responding on X, Sani wrote, “Waziri; When the Admin left the group,” a pointed reference to Atiku’s influential role within the PDP and the shock surrounding his departure.
Atiku tendered his resignation on July 16, 2025, in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of his Ward, Jada 1, in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Citing irreconcilable differences and a deviation from the founding principles of the party, Atiku announced his decision to part ways with the PDP, a political home he had returned to multiple times throughout his career.
Now a key figure in the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku is widely expected to pursue the coalition’s presidential ticket for the 2027 general election. His move marks another significant shift in Nigeria’s evolving political terrain as realignments begin to take shape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
