ADC Unveils ‘One ADC Movement’ as Part of 2027 Strategy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a new internal mobilisation platform, the “One ADC Movement,” aimed at strengthening party unity and preparing its structure for the 2027 general elections.

The initiative was introduced at an event in Abuja, where the group’s national coordinator, Lauretta Onochie, said the movement is designed to bring together party members and supporters across the country.

Onochie said the platform would help consolidate the party’s base and encourage cooperation among different factions within the ADC. According to her, internal cohesion is critical as the party positions itself as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

She noted that Nigerians are closely watching the political landscape and questioning whether political parties can overcome internal disagreements to focus on public service. The new movement, she said, aims to reinforce unity within the ADC and encourage reconciliation where disputes exist.

“The movement is built on the principle that unity is the greatest strength of any political party,” Onochie said, adding that disagreements are part of democratic politics but should not weaken collective goals.

Former ADC national chairman Ralph Nwosu said the initiative reflects an effort by opposition figures to provide Nigerians with an alternative political platform ahead of the next general election cycle.

Nwosu argued that citizens should take a more active role in the party’s structure rather than remaining observers of the political process. He also said the party’s leadership wants broader public participation in shaping the ADC’s direction.

He described Nigeria’s current situation as critical and said the party intends to use grassroots mobilisation to build momentum ahead of 2027.

Director of mobilisation Umar Shuiabu said the group will expand its activities nationwide following the launch. According to him, the movement will focus on organising supporters and building the party’s presence across the country in preparation for the next election cycle.
