ADC Suspends National Vice Chairman for Anti-Party Activities
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, over allegations of anti-party activities and insubordination to constituted authority. The suspension, which takes immediate effect, followed a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the ADC, Cross River State Chapter, held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
In a statement dated October 17, 2025, and made available to journalists in Abuja, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon. James Otudor, said Dr. Usani’s actions were inconsistent with the ADC’s constitution and detrimental to the unity and progress of the party. The committee said it reached the decision after thoroughly reviewing petitions and reports accusing Dr. Usani of conduct capable of undermining the party’s reputation and electoral strength.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Cross River State Chapter, wishes to inform the general public, party faithful, and relevant stakeholders that following the resolutions reached at its State Working Committee meeting held on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, the party has suspended Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, the National Vice Chairman (South-South), with immediate effect,” the statement read in part.
The SWC explained that the suspension would remain in place pending the conclusion of further investigations and disciplinary proceedings by the appropriate party organs. It also expressed disapproval of the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, saying the appointment was made without consultation with the Cross River State leadership.
According to the statement, “Her appointment was not made in the best interest of the party in Cross River State, as no member of the State leadership was consulted prior to her appointment. Her current disposition and loyalty appear clearly skewed against the unity and growth of the ADC in the state.”
The committee urged the national leadership to review her appointment and replace her with a “competent, credible, and media-savvy individual from Cross River State who has a verifiable record of commitment to the ideals and progress of the party.”
The SWC also cautioned members of the Coalition Movement who had publicly declared for the ADC but failed to complete their membership registration, warning that the party would not tolerate dual membership or allow its platform to be used for multiple partisan interests. It directed all coalition leaders and intending members to finalize their registration at the ward level within seven days, ending Saturday, October 25, 2025, or risk exclusion from leadership and decision-making activities.
Reaffirming its loyalty to the national leadership, the ADC Cross River State Chapter assured members that the party remains united, disciplined, and committed to offering credible leadership and a people-centred alternative for the South-South region. It urged members to remain calm and steadfast as the party’s internal mechanisms for discipline and accountability take their course.
