ADC in Rivers Surpasses 800,000 Members as Amaechi, Omehia, Secondus Join
The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) says its membership has grown to more than 800,000, boosted by the defection of several prominent political figures.
Party spokesman Luckyman Egila announced the development at a press conference in Port Harcourt over the weekend, describing the ADC as “a beautiful bride” attracting key politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Egila confirmed that two former governors of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, have joined the party, alongside former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus.
He explained that the new entrants have formally registered with the ADC and been issued membership cards, making them full members.
Other political heavyweights now in the ADC fold include former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Chief Austin Okpara and former Minister of Transport Dr Abiye Sekibo.
“These are influential figures in Rivers State politics, and their presence strengthens the ADC’s position as we prepare for the coming elections,” Egila said.
