Abuja: Terrorists Demand Ransom, Vow to Kill Young Siblings of Deceased Student

In a grim development following the tragic abduction and murder of Talatu Salihu, a final-year student of Library and Information Science at Bayero University, Kano, terrorists now hold her 6 and 10-year-old siblings hostage. The siblings were abducted a few days ago from their residence in Sagwari Layout, Dutse, Bwari, Abuja.

It was learned that the terrorists, who had previously taken Talatu’s life, are now threatening to kill her remaining siblings due to the family’s inability to pay the demanded ransom. Earlier, the terrorists claimed the parents were not earnest about securing Talatu’s release when they failed to pay the initial N100 million ransom.

According to a reliable source, the kidnappers have reached out to the family, warning that the lives of the 6 and 10-year-old siblings are at stake unless the negotiated ransom of N50 million is paid within a week.

“The kidnappers have also threatened to kill the remaining two kids aged 6 and 10 if the N50 million ransom demanded is not met,” the source disclosed.

Appealing to the public for support, the source urged Nigerians to contribute whatever they could to help save the lives of the two children.

Abuja has witnessed a surge in abduction cases, causing anxiety among residents, especially on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory. SaharaReporters previously highlighted various instances of abductions in the region.

Additionally, an intelligence report from the Nigeria Police Force, shared by a military source, revealed intercepted communication between kidnappers in Karu and Kabusa areas near Abuja, indicating plans for an operation on either Tuesday or January 17, 2024. The situation remains tense as the deadline for the ransom approaches, and the lives of the young hostages hang in the balance.
