Abuja Pastor Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Exploitation of 13-Year-Old Girl
Police in Abuja have arrested a local pastor accused of sexually exploiting a 13-year-old girl in the Mpape area.
The incident was reported on August 2, 2025, at around 6:03 p.m., after a resident of Dogo Block, Off Mashafa Road, Mpape, informed authorities that her daughter had gone missing for four days before returning home.
According to reports, a neighbor identified as Pastor Joseph (surname withheld), who lives in the same area, intervened when the mother attempted to discipline her daughter. He reportedly advised that the child be brought to his house for counseling. It was later alleged that he exploited and abused the girl during this period.
The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to a hospital for medical examinations.
Police sources confirmed that the girl is receiving medical care and psychological support, in line with established procedures for handling child victims of abuse.
Authorities added that the case would be prosecuted under Nigeria’s Child Rights Act and laws addressing sexual violence. If found guilty, the suspect faces severe penalties, including imprisonment.
