Abuja: Man Arraigned for False Claim of Genital Disappearance and Assault

In a peculiar case that left many puzzled, a 20-year-old man named Onoja Kingsley found himself in the spotlight as he was arraigned in a Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court. Kingsley faced charges related to allegedly raising a false alarm about his genitals disappearing, leading to a series of unfortunate events.

Kingsley, who has no fixed address, was charged with a range of offenses, including joint acts, causing grievous harm, attempted culpable homicide, theft, and providing false information to the public. Despite the gravity of the accusations, he pleaded not guilty during his court appearance.

The case was initially reported by Ndifreke Ebong of Gaduwa Estate, Abuja, on October 7. Ebong, along with some church members, was distributing flyers to promote their upcoming Sunday service in the Federal Capital Territory. It was during this activity that he encountered Kingsley and handed him a flyer.

Inexplicably, Kingsley accused Ebong of stealing his manhood, setting off a chain of events that would take a bizarre turn. Members of Kingsley’s group, who remain at large, allegedly beat and attacked Ebong with various dangerous weapons before fleeing the scene. As a result of this assault, Ebong sustained injuries, and his mobile phone, valued at N500,000, along with important documents from his wallet, were stolen.

However, during police interrogation, Kingsley astonishingly revealed that his “disappeared” manhood had returned and was functioning normally. These perplexing events led to Kingsley being charged under various sections of the Penal Code, including those related to false accusations, assault, and theft.

During the court proceedings, the prosecutor, E.A. Inegbenoise, objected to Kingsley’s bail, citing his lack of a traceable address and concerns that granting bail could hinder the ongoing police investigation, including the arrest of Kingsley’s associates who were still at large.

Magistrate Abba Bello exercised his discretion in granting bail to Kingsley, setting the bail amount at N1 million, with a surety required to reside within the court’s jurisdiction. Additionally, the surety’s address was to be verified by both the prosecutor and the court’s registrar.

The case is scheduled for a hearing on November 20, where more details about this unusual incident are expected to come to light.
