“A Man Is Not Built to Sexually Be with One Woman” – 2Baba Speaks on Split from Annie Idibia

Nigerian music icon 2Baba has broken his silence on his separation from wife Annie Idibia, offering candid reflections on their failed marriage and his views on male sexuality.

Speaking on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, the 49-year-old singer confirmed the end of their 12-year union, which began in May 2012 and ended in January 2025. While he chose not to delve into the specific reasons for the breakup, 2Baba made it clear that both he and Annie had done their best to save the relationship.

“She’s amazing. It just wasn’t working anymore,” he said. “I think both of us gave it our best… only people in the marriage know exactly what they’re feeling.”

He discouraged staying in unhappy relationships out of fear or societal pressure. “It’s always good not to torture yourself… many people have gone to their grave very sad people,” he said. “If it’s obvious that people cannot work things out, I don’t think anybody should force themselves to be together.”

The singer also stirred debate with a controversial take on male fidelity, asserting, “A man is not built to sexually be with one woman.” While acknowledging that emotional and romantic commitment is possible, he argued that biological impulses make sexual exclusivity difficult for men. “An individual can choose to be disciplined, but biologically, that’s not how men are built,” he added.

According to him, embracing this reality could reduce the emotional toll in many relationships. “So many heartaches and unnecessary stress will be avoided if we understand this simple fact.”

Since the split, 2Baba has confirmed he is now in a relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. He proposed to her in February 2025.
