Actor Lalude Reveals He and Colleagues Were Paid N10,000 Daily to Campaign for Tinubu in 2023
Veteran Nollywood actor Lalude has disclosed that he and fellow actors received just N10,000 daily for feeding while campaigning for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
In a recent interview circulating on social media, Lalude expressed regret over supporting Tinubu, citing ongoing hardship and unfulfilled promises nearly two years into his administration.
According to the actor, he and his colleagues campaigned across the country for a month and three weeks without receiving any formal payment apart from the daily feeding allowance. He revealed that even this stipend was reduced when organizers learned they were saving part of the money.
“They were giving us N10,000 daily for feeding. It should have been more, but they decided to give us N10,000. And when they saw we were saving some of it, they reduced the amount and sometimes wouldn’t give us anything for two or three days,” Lalude said.
He further lamented that despite promises, no additional rewards or benefits have been given to the actors who publicly supported Tinubu.
His statement comes days after another veteran actor, Alapini, also voiced regret over backing Tinubu during the elections.
Recall that other celebrities who supported Tinubu in 2023 include Saheed Balogun, Bimbo Akintola, Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus, Olaiya Igwe, and Seyi Law. Their endorsements drew backlash from Nigerians critical of the economic hardship and insecurity that have continued under the current administration.
