57-year-old Woman Kills, Dismembers Son Over Alleged R@pe Attempts on Female Family Members
In a tragic incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district, a 57-year-old woman, Lakshmi Devi, is accused of killing her 35-year-old son, Shyam Prasad, on February 13. According to Prakasam Superintendent of Police AR Damodar, Devi, with the help of her relatives, allegedly murdered and dismembered Prasad’s body due to his repeated indecent behavior towards female family members.
Prasad, who was unmarried, had reportedly exhibited inappropriate conduct towards his aunts and other relatives in Bengaluru, Khammam, and Hyderabad. Authorities stated that he had also allegedly attempted to assault his maternal aunts in Hyderabad and Narasaraopeta. Unable to tolerate her son’s actions any longer, Devi purportedly took matters into her own hands.
The police reported that Prasad was killed using an axe or a sharp weapon, and his dismembered body was disposed of in the Nakalgandi canal of Cumbum village. The accused are currently at large and have been charged under Sections 103(1) (punishment for murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.
