22-Year-Old Housewife Allegedly Stabs Husband to Death Over Infidelity
Iyanu Adedeji, a 22-year-old housewife, has been accused of stabbing her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death following an altercation at their residence in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. The tragic incident reportedly stemmed from accusations of infidelity within their marriage.
According to a security source, the couple, who had been married for eight years and had two children, became embroiled in a heated argument on the morning of December 30, 2024. The dispute escalated into a physical fight, during which Iyanu allegedly used a domestic knife to stab Funsho in the chest. Realizing the severity of his injury, Iyanu rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that Iyanu had reported herself to the police shortly after. She arrived at the Divisional Police Station with her husband’s body in a vehicle and recounted the events leading to his death.
Odutola revealed that Iyanu explained how the argument started when Funsho accused her of infidelity, which quickly turned violent. During the scuffle, she admitted to wounding him with a knife. The police have since taken Iyanu into custody, recovered the knife, and begun a preliminary investigation. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
In light of the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has called on couples to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid letting conflicts escalate into violence.
