2027: PDP Is Dead, Awaiting Obituary – ADC Declares

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “dead and awaiting obituary,” positioning itself as the only credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the unveiling of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the political landscape had shifted firmly away from the APC, and that the PDP no longer represents a viable opposition.

“The question is no longer whether Kwarans want the APC; that question has been answered — they don’t,” Abdullahi stated.

“The real question now is whether we can convince them that the ADC is the only alternative. That’s exactly what we’ll do in the coming elections.”

Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports, also raised concerns over rising insecurity across Kwara communities, warning that worsening violence has crippled farming and rural livelihoods.

“Our people can no longer farm safely. The government must do more to restore peace and protect citizens’ lives,” he added.

In his remarks, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed described the event as a turning point in the state’s political evolution, emphasizing the ADC’s commitment to genuine representation.

“This marks the beginning of a new direction in our political experience. The ADC is poised to build a party that truly reflects the aspirations of Kwarans,” Ahmed said.

The unveiling ceremony, attended by party leaders and supporters, signals the ADC’s intention to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
